baby sister's blessing dress

It's finally finished!  About two months ago a good friend of mine asked if I could knit a special blessing dress for the baby girl that she's expecting.  I said "sure!" (thinking..."how hard could knitting a dress for a newborn be?)  She said she had bought a knit dress for her 4-yr-old and liked the style.  She was hoping I could re-create it in a smaller size.  One look at the dress and I said "nope!  but we could come up with something else!"  After searching around for a pattern that was similar, I came up with this pattern, and told her I'd add cables to the front of the dress to make it a little more fancy, and to match the other dress (a little...okay it doesn't really match it at all).  Who would have known that knitting a dress that little could be so crazy!  First I started knitting away and after a while I realized that it looked like it was going to fit a doll...not a real baby.  So I had to start all over again.  But I like the second try MUCH better and I think it turned out adorable.  I hope you like it Nat!  You got a one-of-a-kind-adventureknitter-original.  I'm not going to volunteer for another blessing dress anytime soon!  Now that the dress is done and in mommy's hands...maybe you should come out baby!!
